The Choctawhatchee crosses Highway 20 just east of Bruce — the federal river gauge for this stretch is literally named for the town. In high water, Highway 20 at the bridge can flood and close. It doesn't happen often, but if the river's been up and you've got a party booked, mention it when you call and we'll plan the approach from whichever side works. Down at the Landings
Bruce Creek Landing is often associated with the town name, but it's genuinely about ten miles north up Highway 81, closer to Ponce de Leon, on Camp House Landing Road. It's a water-management district site with a boat ramp, a fire pit, a short bank-fishing path, and parking for about ten vehicles — a nice spot, but small, and not really a party venue. If you're gathering out that way, a bouncer at the house makes more sense than trying to work it into the landing.

Bruce is the headquarters of the Muscogee Nation of Florida, a state-recognized tribe whose governing center has been in this community for more than 150 years, housed in the town's original late-1800s schoolhouse on Church Road.
